After completing her PGCE, Julia has predominantly taught pupils on a one to one basis through tutoring, part of the learning support department within her school and now for OEO. Julia began teaching online a year ago, and has actually found it much easier! The ability to look at exactly the same piece of work as each pupil and both annotate the screen so that she can see exactly their level of understanding and equally enables her to instantly explain and demonstrate through annotation. Julia asks many questions in her lessons to gauge understanding and to help tailor each lesson to a pupil’s needs. She has found that all the resources she needs are so easily accessible online. Julia says her tech skills have improved a lot but that there’s still a lot more to learn!
Julia loves to challenge herself, as it gives her a goal to work towards. She also loves being busy and active, which is often the case with three sons and two dogs! There’s always a daily walk. Julia has loved watching her sons play many different sports over the years, and working out the appropriate number of layers to wear. Julia has a passion for exploring new places, travelling with them.
What makes Julia happy? “Family, friends, eating and holidays and of course chocolate.”
